I hope your plans are made to attend the Conservative Party USA Convention to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, July 22-24, 2010. This will be a unique opportunity for members of the Conservative Party USA to get together to discuss Party activities, goals and ideals and to celebrate the successes to date.
The home of the convention will be the Loew’s New Orleans Hotel. The hotel is located at 300 Poydras Street, New Orleans, LA 70130. Check-in policies and hotel information can be found here. The main hotel phone number is 504-636-3300 .
Room Cost is $126/night for single or double occupancy. This special rate includes taxes and state fees. Please make your reservation directly with the Hotel Reservations department by calling 866-563-9792. Be sure to mention “Conservative Party USA” when you call to assure this special rate. Naturally, a standard credit card required and rooms are subject to availability.
For convention activities, the Registration Fee is $175 per convention attendee. Be an early bird and register for only $150 per attendee if paid by June 15, 2010. This fee will entitle you to all the convention activities including the reception on Thursday night, July 22, the banquet on Saturday night (evening wear required), July 24, and the business meetings held during each day (casual dress) of the convention. Please contact the shuttle service to reserve by calling 504-522-3500 or visit their website linked above.
If you plan to drive to the convention, be aware that the hotel provides valet parking with a convention discount of $20.00 per night.
Part of the business of the convention will be the debating of Party Planks. As a member in good standing of the Conservative Party USA, you are eligible and invited to submit suggestions for consideration to be included in the Party Planks. The National Site of the Conservative Party USA offers the abstract form for you to make your suggestion. You will also find on this site the method that will be used for approval of planks submitted by the membership.
I look forward to seeing you there.

I have been closely following the Primary Elections in the various states to this point. There have been twelve so far in addition to three Special Elections with Hawai’i having a Special Election on May 22.
By my count, 74 Governors, Senators and Congressmen will not be part of the November General Elections, the “mid-terms.” Some of the Governors are stopped by term limits, some Senators and Congressmen are retiring (wonder why?), one has been denied the nomination of his Party for reelection, Bob Bennett of Utah, two have been kicked out in the Primary, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and Alan Mollohan of West Virginia,. Two have resigned due to scandal, Mark Souder from Indiana and Eric Massa from New York. Several others are running for another national or state office.
Unfortunately, we will not really know until November whether we have taken a major step toward returning our America to what it was and should be. Until then there is an issue we must address. The sooner we do so the better equipped we will be to handle the tide of swelling Socialism in the United States.
Everyone knows that the major problem is the liberals/Socialists in Washington, DC. We must continue trying to get rid of as many liberal elected officials as we possibly can, but I have to tell you – it does not look too good from where I sit.
Incumbents whether Democrat or Republican are being elected in their primaries in overwhelming numbers. Folks, we simply cannot march in our TEA Parties, stand on the steps of the Capitol or continue sending letters, emails and making phone calls telling our elected officials that they do not represent us, and that we will remember this in November if we keep reelecting them in the primaries.
It is true that some of the Democrats are getting a little worried about their jobs and trying to give the appearance of moving more centrist than left, but that is merely an act on their part. You know that as well as I do.
In all fairness, I think some of the Republicans are getting our message as well, but it is much too little and much too late.
The Republican Party is being infiltrated by a group who want to change the Republican Platform and planks to a more socially liberal stance. These are the Libertarians. For years, they have had their own party. The problem is, they have not been able to succeed in gaining much support from American voters – until now. Their party is losing money and going bankrupt. The party leadership are not even trying to rebuild their party – they are going to take over the Republican Party because of the established track record and the money issues.
The problem is, they do not want to maintain and grow the Republican Party. Their one goal is to remake the Republican Party into the Libertarian Party while keeping the Republican Party brand. Is this what Republicans really want? Do the Liberty Republicans have any intention whatsoever of keeping the Republican Platform in tact? Not for one second.
They have succeeded in gaining footholds in many of our primaries forcing some die-hard Republicans to consider voting for Democrats in November. I do not blame them. At least with a Democrat, you know what you are getting.
Libertarians are hiding in the Republican Party as Liberty Republicans. They receive endorsements from Liberty Candidates. All the while, this is still the Ron Paul Libertarian Party with all of its socially liberal viewpoints. Ron Paul and his son, Rand Paul in Kentucky, have made bold speeches saying out-right that they want to “re-form” the Republican Party.
Michael Steele is not doing anything that I can see to avoid this takeover. In fact, he is looking only for candidates “who can win the election.” Such was the case with Dede Scozzafava in NY-23 last year. What was the result of that fiasco? She withdrew her candidacy and threw her support to the Democrat who eventually won the election.
If our elected officials are not willing or not aware of the situation to help stop this takeover, and if the leader of the Republican Party is not willing to stop it, what are we to do as voters in the Republican Party who are not willing to accept the platform changes the Libertarians will bring with them? Make no mistake about it – it WILL happen.
I have a suggestion for all of us. Tell the Republican Party to kiss your foot. Stop sending money to them. But if you do that, for whom will you vote? What do you look for to get the conservative issues you demand and the representation you deserve?
The Conservative Party USA is waiting to welcome you home. Come to the place where only conservative issues are held and uplifted. Support the party in your state. If they haven’t established the Conservative Party in your state, why not be the one to get it started? Candidates? They are everywhere – living right next door to you. Maybe even you.
It takes a lot of work to get a major political movement going and growing in the right direction. Be part of the solution for America – not the problem. Join the Conservative Party and show Americans what REAL Conservatism is and what it can do. Get involved. If we all work together, there may still be time to field our own Party Candidates in November. Why not give it a try?
Who knows – you just might succeed.

Don’t Forget to VOTE!
When you feel you are all alone in the world, when you think you want to help but there is nothing you can do, remember the wise words of Edward Everett Hale.
“’Do you pray for the senators, Dr. Hale?’ No, I look at the senators and I pray for the country.”
“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. What I can do, I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do.”
Yes, you are only one, but good things happen because one person acted. You owe nothing to me personally, and nobody will notice if you don’t vote. But you will notice. If another liberal candidate is elected from your state or from your district or even from your city, you will notice. And you will regret not having at least had a voice in seeking to replace that liberal candidate with a conservative one – one who more closely represents your ideas and opinions.
If the trend in Washington is to be changed, it will start with you and your vote.
Marie A Cole
I am starting this overview considerably later than I had planned, so bear with me. We will go through all 18 of your Congressional Districts plus the Senate seat being vacated by George Voinovich, (R) who is retiring. I will try to give you the link to the candidate website and anything I feel you might want to pay special attention to.
I am not from Ohio, and I do not know all of your election laws; therefore, I will assume a primary for all political parties. I will also be ignoring Democrat incumbents and candidates since those are the ones that we Conservatives will be voting to kick out of office in November.
My job is to provide information for you – your job is to VOTE!
You should be electing a new Governor this year thanks to the Democrat incumbent Ted Strickland. There is only one Republican seeking election; John Kasich is running with Mary Taylor for Lieutenant Governor.
To start our overview, let us look first at the Senate race. There are one Republican, two Democrats, one Constitution Party, one Socialist Party, and five Independent challengers. That is quite a slate for you. For the sake of argument, I am going to assume that Ohio is smart enough to avoid allowing the Socialist to be elected. We have enough of them in Washington now. We do not need one more.
US SENATE – THE CANDIDATES
Rob Portman (R) – strong stance on abortion
Eric Deaton (C) – very thorough Issues Page. Endorsed by Liberty Candidates (Libertarians)
Eric LaMont Gregory (I) – in favor of Obamacare
Stephen Lahanas (I) – the only website I could find listing any of his ideas is a blog. That concerns me.
Dave Myers (I) – another blog for a website, but at least this one has a biography on it
William Pierce (I) – considers himself an ex-Republican
Adam Shaffer (I) – not a lot of ready information regarding his stance on the issues
US REPRESENTATIVE – THE CANDIDATES
Steve Driehaus (D) incumbent Dist 1

Rich Stevenson (Green) – no website of his own, but I found a little information
Jim Berns (L) – the only info I could find is on a Libertarian page
Jared Croxton (L) – campaign site is a Facebook page
Jean Schmidt (R) incumbent Dist 2
Debbi Alsfelder (R) – not a lot on her issues page but every little bit helps
Mike Kilburn (R) – good information on his home page
Tim Martz (R) – interesting website – very plain. Legislative Agenda
Marc Johnston (L) – again stressing “Tea Party Activist” like that is supposed to win him votes from unknowing voters.
Mike Turner (R) incumbent Dist 3
Rene Oberer (R) – even though I can’t find proof, she sounds quite Libertarian to me
Jim Jordan (R) incumbent Dist 4
Don Kissick (L) – another Facebook candidate and “Tea Party Activist”
Bob Latta (R) incumbent Dist 5
Robert Wallis (R) – I can’t tell which website is his “official” website
Brian Smith (L) – I couldn’t find any information at all
Charlie Wilson (D) incumbent Dist 6
Donald Allen (R) – issues page is “tabbed” so you have to click on what you want to read
Bill Johnson (R) – believes in pink slips to non-functioning elected officials
Dick Stobbs (R) – Facebook was the only website I could get to display. The others referenced on my sources kept “timing out”
Richard Cadle (C) – another “Tea Party Activist”
Martin Elsass (L) – supported by Libertarians
Cory McCusker (L) – more firm against abortion than most Libertarians.
Steve Austria (R) incumbent Dist 7

Marcy Kaptur (D) incumbent Dist 9
Rich Iott (R) – brief issues page; endorsed by Change the Congress in 2010
Jack Smith (R) – good issues page
Joseph Jaffe (L) – soft on social issues
Jeremy Swartz (L) – soft on social issues as all Libertarians are
Dennis Kucinich (D) incumbent Dist 10
Peter Corrigan (R) – Israel supporter but not firm enough on our devotion to promote freedom world-wide when necessary
W. Benjamin Franklin (R) – issues listed as separate links
Thomas Olschlager (R) – be sure to check out his “Not So Fun Facts” on the left side of his home page. Not much info on his issues page, but the picture DOES speak 1000 words.
Jeff Coggins (L) – did not respond to questionnaire sponsored by Cleveland.com
Marcia Fudge (D) incumbent Dist 11
This is horrible, Ohio. The only Republican running for this position is a “Liberty Republican.” That means he’s a RINO – a Libertarian running as a Republican! The Republicans are predominately anti-war, anti-military, and anti-government. They preach “personal freedoms,” but my personal freedoms will be stepped on at every turn if they get their liberal social policies enacted. The candidate is Matt Brakey, and the only web page I could find is on Facebook. It is titled, “Matt Brakey for County Council.”
Pat Tiberi (R) incumbent – Dist 12
Republican challenger Andrew Zukowski has more problems than a web page that won’t load as this article from April 20, 2010 reveals.
The other candidates are Libertarians, and I believe I’ve said enough about the Libertarians and their liberal social policies.
Betty Sutton (D) incumbent Dist 12
James Brihan (R) – the only information I can find about him is that he didn’t respond to the Cleveland.com candidate questionnaire.
Frank Chestney (R) – his “topics” page reveals a lack of real Conservative values.
Tom Ganley (R) – issues page does not cover many issues, but his statements are Conservative.
Bill Haney (R) – interesting arrangement for his issues page. He seems quite Conservative.
Jim Hrubik (R) – a Facebook page is his campaign web site. Check out the “Notes” section for his stance on the issues.
Jason Meade (R) – What exactly does it mean to be a “Tea Party Republican?”
Todd Sharkey (R) – an interesting 10-point plan, but be sure to check out ALL the issues.
Steve LaTourette (R) incumbent Dist 14
Three Democrats and a Libertarian challenger.
Mary Jo Kilroy (D) incumbent Dist 15
John Adams (R) – issues tabbed across the top of his web site.
Ralph Applegate (R) – no website or other information found, but he is a “frequent candidate.”
Charles Chope (R) – no website or other information found.
Steve Stivers (R) – doesn’t mention abortion on issues page, but other reading indicates he is pro-abortion.
David Ryon (C) – calls himself a “Ron Paul Activist” which translates to Libertarian. Endorsed by Liberty Candidates. Again that translates to Libertarian.
Scott Alan Hubbard (I) – I think I found his campaign website on Resistnet.com.
John Boccieri (D) incumbent Dist 16
Kevin Kapel (R) – I don’t consider this a very good campaign website.
Matt Miller (R) – two places you need to check out on his website – Guiding Principles and Issues
Tim Renacci (R) – issues are on separate tabs
Paul Schiffer (R) – Issues page sounds Libertarian in many instances.
H. Doyle Smith (R) – I am not really sure about his “modernized” 10 Commandments.
Tim Ryan (D) incumbent Dist 17
Jim Graham (R) – fairly blunt issues page.
M. E. “Bing” Henderson (R) – interesting presentation of his issues.
Jim Traficant (I) – I love this description of Mr. Traficant: “Ex-Congressman, Ex-Mahoning County Sheriff, Radio Talk Show Host & Felon”
Zack Space (D) incumbent Dist 18
Beau Bromberg (R) – I don’t have much appreciation for a “Tea Party Activist” – an Activist is an activist – but his issues page is fairly clear on the few issues he covers.
Fred Dailey (R) – forthright in his stance on the issues.
Dave Daubenmire (R) – issues on the front page.
Bob Gibbs (R) – I defer to your judgment here, but his issues page sounds Conservative.
Ron Hood (R) – comprehensive issues page
Hombre Liggett (R) – I appreciate his stance on the issues.
Jeanette Moll (R) – solid Conservative issues
Michael D. Royer (R) – if he isn’t a Libertarian, he certainly talks like one.
I told you this would be just a quick overview. I hope you will find something useful here. My two primary sources of information other than the candidates’ websites are USElections.com and Politics1.com.

The opinions expressed in this article are those of the author and are not intended to represent the opinions of the Conservative Party – Ohio.
I got the strangest thing in my mail today. It’s a questionnaire from the Republican National Party. They want me to fill it out giving them my feelings about issues facing Americans.
Over half a legal-sized page remained filled with ways for me to send $500 (obviously the preferred amount since it is listed first), $250, $100, $50, $30, Other amount. Don’t you just know that’s going to happen??!!
Well, I have filled out their little questionnaire, and when I mail it back tomorrow, it will also include this little hand-written letter from me.
The Republican Party will get not one red cent from me!
You have abandoned “our” conservative values and ideals as much as or more than the Obamacrats!
The only reason I will vote for even one Republican is because the Conservative Party has not yet met all the requirements for fielding candidates of our own.
You blew it with me when you failed to speak up for Sarah Palin and allowed the McCain campaign to throw her under the bus.
You lost my support when you said we need to move to the center of right.
You lost my respect when you abandoned a truly conservative candidate in NY-23, Doug Hoffman, in favor of a candidate who is anything but conservative.
You gave up any chance you had of earning my respect back by saying that we have to support the candidates that can win.
No! No more! Not one red cent from me!
Here is the address is you would like to join me in my determination to see to it that the Republican Party actually HEARS the conservative voices of America:
REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE
310 FIRST STREET S.E.
WASHINGTON, D.C. 20003
Marie A Cole
Obviously, the Conservative Voice is being heard more loudly than we thought. Democrats in the House and Senate are “retiring” two at a time. Not just the “keep a low profile” Dems either – these are the big guns.
The latest to join the ranks of the unemployed of their own volition are Senator Byron Dorgan of North Dakota and (thank God for answered prayers) Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut. Bless their hearts they’re tired and ready to rest after their long illustrious (?) careers during which time they have sent America and Americans down the tubes.
It was Senator Dorgan, you may remember, who proposed an amendment to the Harry Reid Socialistic Health Care for a Socialistic America Bill to allow consumers to buy FDA-approved drugs from other countries. In a twist of Harry Reid’s nose, the pharmaceutical industry in America opposed this amendment thus it was defeated in the Senate by a 51-48 vote.
Senator Dodd, of course, was responsible for the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac debacle among others. He was also implicated as having received major kickbacks from Countrywide Financial Corp. which was under investigation by the Connecticut Attorney General’s office.
These two retirements are really good news for our Conservative voices. They will have little lasting meaning unless we join together in North Dakota and Connecticut as well as our other 48 states to defeat the liberal incumbents who are seeking reelection in 2010 and have not as yet received our message. Please be reminded that liberals are not only Democrats. They are Republican, Liberty, and Independent party members also.
Find them, Conservatives of America! Find them under whichever rock they are choosing to hide and let them know that we are deadly serious. We WILL remove them from office in 2010 and replace them with truly conservative Representatives and Senators!
We must start this process in Massachusetts on January 19 by electing Scott Brown the fill the Teddy Kennedy seat. Then one by one, we must unseat the others. Be determined, Conservatives.
Our time is NOW. Our voices are loud and we are in unison with our message. “Liberal, you’ve taken us for granted for the last time! We want your jobs! And we WILL get them!”
Marie A Cole
2009 can now officially become a memory, thank God! Let’s move forward into 2010 with due diligence and respect for our Conservative viewpoints. We must and will be heard in every 2010 election all across the United States.
Our voice starts with each of us in our local, state and national elections. Since there are very few candidates represented by the Conservative Party – USA, we must stand up and speak up for the most conservative candidates we can find. If that isn’t satisfactory, then we must search for a true conservative to run under our banner. If big money, offers of fame and notoriety, promises of continued support, etc. work for labor groups, heavily funded corporations and other lobby interests, we must turn them around to fit our conservative voices.
Conservatives are the largest voting bloc in the United States. Thomas Paine said so succinctly, “If we do not hang together, we shall surely hang separately.” This was echoed by Benjamin Franklin, “Ay, we must all hang together, else we shall all hang separately.”
We find ourselves in much the same position. As long as we are united in our common conservative values system, no one will hang!
Have a wonderful New Year’s Day. Enjoy the football, basketball, hockey, front-yard football and black-eyed peas today. Rest up. We have a long fight before us. It is a fight we must win.

Have you ever given any thought to whether or not you are actually classified as a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent or Whocares? And why is this important in the first place?
The Republican Party Platform
The most comprehensive information I could find comes from the 2008 platform. I’ll try to shorten the 67 pages of the PDF file for you.
I think you get the general idea. National security, nuclear weapons restrictions, enforcement of immigration laws, international alliances, adherence to the Constitution, and States’ Rights through the power of the Tenth Amendment seem to provide the basis for what Republicans are supposed to believe and promote. Naturally, the document mentioned above goes into much more detail than I provided here. If you have about an hour to kill, you might want to read the entire 67-page document.
The Democratic Platform
Since I used the 2008 Republican Platform, I sought the 2008 Democratic Platform for comparison. I found this one more easily read and the actual policies seem to be more visually appealing.
I have listed only the first nine “principles” as I did from the Republican platform. I am trying to be fair, but I have to admit, it isn’t easy. I read more than just the headlines in this 59-page PDF file, and it smacks of pure Socialism with a Communistic threat to the non-Democrats in America.
My next computer search was for information regarding the Independent Party Platform. The search provided more detail than I was expecting. Which Independent Party Platform shall I choose? There is the Independent American Party and the American Independent Party.
Next was the Libertarian Party then the Green Party.
I have decided that I prefer a “none-of-the-above” approach. I want something plain and simple that spells out what the party believes in, what they stand for, and what is important to the majority of the American people. It would be totally impossible, in my opinion, to provide one single set of “platform statements” that would fit every American perfectly, but I think the one that comes closest to the ideals of the Constitution and the founders of our nation is one that I have written about on at least one other occasion.
In the center section of the national site for the Conservative Party-USA is a comprehensive writing of what the Conservative Party believes. Continued on a separate page is a complete listing of 14 items that form the base of the Conservative Party. Now we have come to the place where I seem to fit personally better than any of the others.
Believing so strongly in the Tenth Amendment, there are individual State Sites as well. When I first began writing for the Conservative Party-USA in addition to my own blog there were four sites: National, California, Louisiana, and Florida. My first post was on August 3, 2009 on the California State Site. As I write today (December 12, 2009) there are 14 State Sites in addition to the National Site; joining California, Louisiana, and Florida are Arizona, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Kansas, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, Ohio and Alaska.
Okay, you’ve been patient with me by reading this, so let me give you the opportunity to have a little input. Which of the political parties I mentioned has grown more in the entirety of 2009? What is the conviction of the largest number of people in the United States? Which party comes closest to fitting with your own personal political beliefs?
If you answer those questions the same way I have, you will probably come to the same conclusion I did. Do yourself a favor: check out the National Site as well as your own individual State Site. If you have thought about becoming politically active yourself but don’t want to run for a political office in your area, I am certain you will be able to find a need in your State Conservative Party that only you can fill.
Now is the only time we have to speak up for our conservative principles. If we do not do it now, we may not have another opportunity.
Marie A Cole

OHIO JOINS THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY – USA!
Welcome, Ohio! Your conservative voters are glad to know that they do – finally! – have real representation in their state.
My job is to do my best to keep you informed of your elections and any Conservative candidates I can find from my out-of-Ohio home. Your job is to help me with candidate suggestions and ideas of topics that are close to Ohioans hearts so I can share them here on this site with other Ohio Conservatives. We can be a team that will be impossible to beat!
We need to get started right away. Primaries and general elections across the United States in 2010 are right around the corner.
Your present Governor, Ted Strickland was last elected with 60% of the vote. He will be challenged by Republican John Kasich. There is a shortlist of his goals for Ohio here. Also challenging is Todd Kritzwiser who is also running as a Republican.
The race for the seat of your retiring senator, George Voinovich appears to be hotly contested between two Democrats, Jennifer Bruner and Lee Irwin Fisher. Ms. Bruner, is your current Secretary of State while Mr. Fisher holds the position of Lieutenant Governor. Four Republicans, Thomas D. “Tom” Ganley, Jason David Howard (no website available), James E. Lundeen, Sr. (website coming soon), and Robert Jones “Rob” Portman, and four Independents, Eric William Deaton, Eric LaMont Gregory, Adam D. Shaffer, and Jeremy D. Swartz are also seeking the Senate seat.
Living in Ohio, you are more likely to hear about these candidates more frequently than I. I rely on you to advise me of any announcements concerning these politicians as well as the others in your state that we will be discussing as we move forward.
In the meantime, I received this very good piece of documentation regarding Ohio political parties, and I think I should pass it on to you. You may know someone who would like to vote in your primary next May but without declaring a party of support, the only option would be to vote on local or state initiatives. This makes becoming a member of the Conservative Party in Ohio a very valid option.
Do I declare my political party affiliation when I register in Ohio?
No. Under Ohio election law, you declare your political party affiliation by requesting the ballot of a political party in a partisan primary election. Additionally, Ohio law provides that, by signing a
declaration of candidacy for a minor party candidate, you become affiliated with that minor political party.
If you do not desire to affiliate with a political party in Ohio, you are considered to be an unaffiliated voter. An unaffiliated voter (identified by some people as an “independent voter”) does not vote the
ballot of a political party in a primary election. However, an unaffiliated voter may vote the Official Questions & Issues Ballot, if there is one for the voter’s precinct at the election.
If you have never wanted to actively join a political party until now, the Conservative Party in Ohio is interested to help you get started. What a wonderful venue you have now, Ohio, to exert your political conservatism. Together, we can elect truly Conservative candidates to speak for us in our governments locally, state-wide, and nationally.
